Lions had 3 fighters scheduled to compete on AK5, which in a small space of time has made itself the biggest and best junior and novice K1 show in the country.
Ashley Baldwin on a 2 fight win streak and off the back of a very impressive win on Legends Fight Series fought an opponent he had already beaten on AK4. Helder Tavarez of Barnet Combat Academy came out fast and hard and too the fight to Ashley, after 3 rounds of both fighters working tirelessly Helder Tavarez was given the win.
1 – 1 between the lads who will have a rubber match on AK6 for a Southern Area Title.
Emilia Azarova was scheduled to fight Thea Patsalides of Storm Gym, These two girls had also fought before, on Legend Fight Series (June 2nd) with Emilia taking the victory under Muay Thai Rules. Today, however, was not the day for the re-match with Thea coming down with a bug in front of our very eyes. We wish her a speedy recovery. The rematch has been scheduled now for Super Fight Series at York Hall in October. The biggest stage these two girls could hope for!
Ellie Harber took part in a European Super Fight against a very well respected Dutch Girl from Altena Gym, Giselle Worth.
Giselle came out moving forwards but was quickly pushed backward, trying to time her lead hook to the liver when Ellie threw leg kicks. Ellie started to take the lead with more ease into the 2nd and third keeping Giselle on the ropes and picking her shots. Rounds 4 and 5 saw Giselle try to pick up the pace but Ellie was ready for it and attacked with more venom than we have seen before, finding gaps and punishing her opponent. After 5 of the best rounds ever seen on Junior Amateur Kings Ellie was deemed to have won by Unanimous decision continuing her successes this year.
Next up for Lions is the WKO World Championships where Ellie Harber and Emilia Azarova will challenge in their 2nd World Championships in 2018.
