2018 finishes with awards for Watford Girls 2018 was a great year for two girls from Watford and finished with both girls winning awards from sporting bodies for their achievements.
Emilia Azarova (11) of Croxley Danes won the inaugural UK Muay Thai Awards Female Fighter of the Year aged 9 – 11. The award was given to Emilia after a year in which she competed in Muay Thai across the UK and Europe securing a WKU British Title and taking the Silver medal at the ISKA World Championships held in the Ukraine representing Team England.
Ellie Harber (13) of Rickmansworth School was honoured with the title of Fight of the Year by the UK Independent K1 Awards for a European Superbout against Dutch number 1 Giselle Worth on Amateur Kings earlier in the year. Ellie was also Ranked 2nd by the same awarding body for Female Fighter of the Year, a year in which Ellie has achieved amazing things winning two World Titles (ISKA and WKO) representing Team England and a British Title (WKU).
Both girls train at Lions Watford Gym under Head Instructors Colin and Sally Lewis. Emilia and Ellie have both said how proud they are of their achievements in 2018 and they are both looking forward to 2019 defending their titles and accruing some more in the process. Their first outing in 2019 will be at the European Championships, January 27th where both girls are expected to do well.
